Hello!

About Me

A weaver with a love for textiles.

Hi, my name is Issy!
I specialise in woven textiles at the University of Huddersfield and enjoy weaving both professional and creative pieces. I also enjoy experimenting with handheld looms to create circular coasters and creative textured wall hangings. I love using varieties of colour and would consider myself a bit of a maximalist when it comes to my work.
I am an intermediate crocheter with a love for spending too much money on yarn and I enjoy creating craft projects involving embroidery. In my free time, I am either reading, upcycling clothing, or attending my local pub quiz. I am a friendly individual who enjoys painting and drawing.
One of my favourite modules on my course is drawing for textiles because it opened my mind to how ideas can be generated into technical pieces. I enjoy painting and collage, especially from my surroundings of nature and architecture.
Another one of my favourite modules is materials and processes where I get a chance to weave! I enjoy picking out yarns based on their hues of colour and their quality and how that would impact the weaving when applied. I enjoy working on Scottweave to experiment with what my weavings could look like using different peg and lifting plans.
I would really like to go into a weaving position at a mill to gain some experience in the textile industry to start my career doing something I love most.
